A global celebration of Permaculture

Story by Russ Grayson, April 2017

Celebrating International Permaculture Day 2017

International Permaculture Day is the day that permaculture acts like the global movement is it. In countries around the world, permaculture organisations and individuals open their properties and projects to show the public that the permaculture design system has solutions to some of the challenges that face us.

Open for this year’s International Permaculture Day is a small farm on the Irish coast started by competitive surfers, a seminar on building and education in Barcelona, a village market at Crystal Waters in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, the Permapatch, Crop Swap Sydney and Repair Cafe at Chatswood, inspection of an owner-built family home in Seymour, Victoria, a project open day in Steinsto, Norway, and a permaculture farm tour in Washington. There’s more, too.

More on Permaculture

Permaculture is an Australian invention, a design system for resilient living in city and country. It’s also a platform of ethics, principles and practices upon which its practitioners develop useful applications. It is something that anyone can start doing now, wherever they live.
