Twelve Green Days...

A New Song For Xcessmas (or XSmas )

On the first day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the second day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the third day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the fourth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the fifth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the sixth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
get green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the seventh day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
recycle drink containers
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the eighth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
turn down the air con,
recycle drink containers
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
get green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the ninth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
recharge your batteries,
turn down the air con,
recycle drink containers
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the tenth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
compost ya left-overs,
recharge your batteries,
turn down the air con,
recycle drink containers,
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
get green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the eleventh day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,
reuse the Chrissy wrapping,
compost all left-overs,
recharge your batteries,
turn down the air con,
recycle drink containers
set real plates,
walk to the shops,
buy a gift that lasts,
have a shorter shower,
buy green power,
and a cloth bag is so waste free!

On the twelfth day of Christmas,

my planet said to me,

[Action Variation: song rapidly shifts into an escalating, breathless race through the next lines – done humorously - to connote the preponderance of sustainable choices which are out there …]

buy green clean pressies - [pause] - like a native plant or a shower timer, a bag of mulch or a draught stopper, a pair of shoes for walking or maybe a recycled compact fluorescent dual flush toilet - [pause breathless, look at each other] - whatever!

[Stop, look (a la ABBA) to camera/audience and declare] … the point is, … the answers are out there..

reuse the Chrissy wrapping,

compost all left-overs,

recharge your batteries,

turn down the air con,

recycle drink containers

set real plates,

walk to the shops,

buy a gift that lasts,

have a shorter shower,

get green power,

and a cloth bag is so waste free!

Have a safe and green Christmas!
