World Environment Day, just around the corner!!

With World Environment Day just around the corner, there are many of us thinking about the extra steps we can take to help out our Planet!

Celebrated every year on June 5, World Environment Day is about renewing the focus on nature and eco-systems and the incredible free ‘function’ this nature provides all creatures in the form of clean air, clean water, rich soil and soul-saving trees and plants. Of course all creatures including humanity itself could not survive without these bountiful forms of nature.

Actions underway to rescue the Planet and ways we can help are the themes of a free community forum organised by Bendigo Bank Clovelly and Randwick Council on Wednesday June 7 from 6.30 to 8.30pm at Randwick Community Centre. The forum has local speakers, free refreshments and opportunities to ask questions and meet like-minded people from across the eastern suburbs. The forum is free to attend with further information from Bendigo Bank Clovelly’s website and Reduce your Footprint.

This World Environment Day will also see residents given the chance to save on energy costs by considering the benefits of solar and other energy saving solutions through the “Our Energy Future” program coordinated across 8 local Councils.

Our Energy Future will give residents access to a free energy audit app to audit your household energy use and also to gain specialist advice on ways to save on energy and cut your energy costs. A number of information workshops will be organised from June onwards. For further information or to register your interest look for details on Reduce your Footprint or email

Residents can also find out what else is happening this World Environment Day from free plantings, free mulch for your garden, a free nature walk, discounted compost bins and worm farms and other free workshops via Randwick Council’s website and social media as well as via
