The Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub gets a helping hand

Corporate and student volunteers join forces for this year’s National Tree Day activities...

International corporate giant, Caitlin Group, organised it’s global day of action with staff from their Sydney headquarters helping weed, mulch and plant native species around the 13 hectare Randwick Environment Park as part of National Tree Day events across the metropolitan region. With 100 volunteers taking part in two separate activities their efforts helped increase the protection of endangered Eastern Suburbs Banksia Scrub and sunshine wattle found in the environment park.

More than 120 students from Randwick Boys High School also added to their community involvement with additional plantings in the environment park whilst taking part in special workshops to increase their understanding of the unique flora and fauna found around the wetlands (even with no water in it) as well as brushing up on how to improve their recycling around the home and school with a specially developed recycling quiz at Randwick Community Centre.
