  • Netting is the best solution for deterring possums. You could simply create a netting fence around the outside of your lemon tree or garden (around 1m in height, using soft netting material). This method of netting means you don't block the sun by netting over the garden.

  • You can also use mothballs (naptholene) which will keep them away. You can buy packs of 2-3 mothball filled plastic tubes with a hook on the end and hook them onto branches (available in supermarkets). The mothballs will disappear over time so you need to monitor them and refill (or the possums will take the opportunity to grab your fruit the day it runs out!!). Don't throw out the plastic tubes though - you can get the end off them and refill with naphtlene flakes from the hardware store (put in old pantihose to stop them coming out sides), or moth balls if you can find them.
