What are some good native plants for Sydney that like clay soil & semi-shade?

  • A few suggestions for you.
    - Lilly pilly
    - Viola hederacea (native violet) as a ground cover
    - Prostanthera ovalifolia
    - Lomandra longifolia
    - Plectranthus argentatus
    - Correa reflexa

    These are all available at the Randwick nursery.

  • Thanks Bettina, I'm a little west of Newtown, so definitely got the clay going on, but I'll keep that community nursery in mind :)

  • Mim,If you are in the eastern suburbs then most of the soils here are sand based. Clays are found from Newtown westwards. For plants for the east try the Randwick Community Nursery.     Some will grow on clay soils so ask the friendly staff!
