Phillip Bay joins ‘Global Day of Action’

Phillip Bay Sustainability Street are hosting a free Compost workshop on the Global Day of Action – Sunday 10 October, 2010.

Founded by American environmentalist Bill McKibben, is a world-wide campaign on Climate Change. There are thousands of events taking place around the world from students in Zimbabwe installing solar panels on a rural hospital, to sumo wrestlers in Japan riding their bicycles to training. is named after the goal of reducing the concentration of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere from its current level of 390 parts per million to below 350 ppm, the safe upper limit according to the latest science.


Phillip Bay Sustainability Street – 'Local' Day of Action

Almost 50% or household garbage in NSW comprises food waste and when that food waste breaks down in landfill it produces methane - a potent greenhouse gas.

Sustainability Street Phillip Bay in cooperation with Climate Action Sydney Eastern Suburbs (CASES) will demonstrate how easy it is to compost and turn those food scraps into food for your garden and cut carbon emissions.

Supported by the 3-Council Compost Revolution program, all participants will receive a free compost bin following the workshop.
