Suntenants – Solar for tenants and owners
The 3-Council have partnered with an innovative social enterprise called Suntenants to help provide the benefits of solar power to rental properties – both owners and tenants - in Sydney’s East.
It’s already been working successfully on hundreds of roofs around Australia and has recently been featured in Domain, Channel 9, Channel 7 and News.com.
Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils are running a small pilot of this program for 10 commercially leased properties to participate in the Eastern Suburbs.
SOUND LIKE YOU? We’d love for you to join!
How it works:
- Owners pay for the solar panels and installation (via preferred suppliers or their own)
- Tenants pay extra rent (SunTenants calculate a fair increase based on the solar power system), but save a lot more on bills – so never losing out!
- SunTenants monitor the system and ensure everyone's benefiting.
Eligible participants:
- Must be a tenant or landlord of a commercially leased property.
- We will provide support to the first 10 property owners who register by 30 November 2018.
- Unfortunately strata-owned properties are not eligible at this stage.
